We are PCSing to JBER Elmendorf Richardson in January 2012. We would like to secure housing off base and would appreciate any suggestions/information on the areas around Anchorage that you would recommend for off post housing. We are interested in at least a 3 bedroom/2 bath home to rent. In my research Eagle River is mentioned more often than other surrounding communities. If there are any other communities comparable to Eagle River that are also worth exploring please let me know. We do not have school age children living at home so the school system does not have to be a consideration in our decision making. We are coming from the East Coast and are nervous and excited about the move to Alaska. Any other tips aside from housing would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
